Here at FanWide (www.FanWide.com), we connect sports fans near and far. One of our primary ways to bring these digital communities together in the real world are through in-person game watch parties at sports bars. On December 16th, 2018, FanWide hosted a celebrity watch party with Seattle Seahawks football legend Cliff Avril.
For Falcons fans, the 2016 season was a rollercoaster of emotions. MVP Matt Ryan carried a historically good Falcons team to the Super Bowl, and, unfortunately for Falcons fans, everybody remembers the Patriots’ epic comeback. Now two years removed from their Super Bowl run, the Falcons are struggling to replicate that success.
Still, they know what it takes to make it to the big game, and they have the pieces to make the trip back. Falcons fans have been carried along for the ride and are justly hoping that their best days are ahead. And now, in a brand new, 1.2 billion dollar stadium, the Falcons fan experience is better than ever. Falcons fans are looking forward to the future, and, knowing that the 2018 season has plagued their team with injuries, they hope that this is just a bump in the road to victory.
As the youngest team in the NFL, the Texans haven’t had the same experiences as some older franchises. The team played its first season in 2002, following a hiatus from football in Houston after the Oilers departed after nearly 40 years in the city. However, just because the team doesn’t yet have the history of older franchises doesn’t mean that the Texans are any less relevant or their fans any less passionate.
The Texans have repeatedly made the playoffs in recent years and look like a team to watch this postseason. The team boasts a strong roster stocked with talent, headlined by superstar defensive end JJ Watt, marquee wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and electric young quarterback Deshaun Watson. Houston has embraced its new team over the last 20 years, but this could be the season when they are finally rewarded with a Lombardi Trophy?
There’s no one more loyal than a sports fan. They would die for their team. But not all fans are born supporters of their team. NFL clubs have to work at their branding to earn their support.
How you can turn customers into loyal fans of your business? By learning from these NFL teams!
How does a fanbase respond to a 1-31 stretch, including an 0-16 season? Those who are truly passionate about their team stick with them, knowing that better times will come soon. This makes the Browns fanbase one of the best in the NFL. Browns fans have always stuck with their team, through good times and through bad. Even during a difficult two-year stretch for the team, the passion of Browns fans never waned. The Dawg Pound at FirstEnergy Stadium always has the same rowdy, intense energy, win or lose. The team’s difficult stretch, however, appears to be over. It looks likely that Browns fans are soon to be rewarded for their patience with a young roster that may well become a perennial contender.
As the second newest NFL organization, behind the Texans, the Baltimore Ravens have consistently been one of the top teams across the league. Since their opening season in 1996, the Ravens have already won two Super Bowl titles in 2001 and 2013. Additionally, they do not fail to produce Hall of Fame players and stun the league with their ever-so threatening defense. This year, the Ravens are stacked with talent in the quarterback position with Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco, newly drafted Lamar Jackson, and Robert Griffin III. It is very clear as to why the Ravens have a good chance at making a strong push to make the playoffs this year.
There are few teams in football that command as much respect as the New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees is making a case to be acknowledged as the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) as he continues to lead the Saints in a record-setting career year. Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, and Michael Thomas are Brees’ weapons of choice, together helping the Saints achieve one of the best records in the league.
The Saints’ recent tradition of success is no coincidence. The story goes like this. The Saints are more than an elite NFL team. They are a symbol of New Orleans, a city with one of the most unique cultures in the world. Following Hurricane Katrina, 80% of New Orleans was underwater. The Saints, displaced themselves, were looked at as a beacon of hope for the devastated city. Along came a young quarterback named Drew Brees, and the Saints hoisted the Lombardi Trophy four years later.
Although they have been one of the less successful teams in recent years in the NFL in recent years, the Buffalo Bills have always had their presence felt throughout the league. Despite rough patches and their former cornerback, Vontae Davis, who retired during halftime, the Bills have shown relentless amounts of passion the way they play the game. Additionally, they better represent the state of New York as they are actually located in New York, unlike some other teams. With the spirit of New York behind them, it is clear as to why the Buffalo Bills never fail to excite and play their hearts out. It is a gift back to their ever so supportive fans.
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently 9-2, driven by an offense rated in the top 3 league-wide in almost every measurable statistic. At this point, it’s not a matter of if they will make the playoffs but how far they will go. The Chiefs have a history of making early playoff exits, and this year, they will be looking to turn a new leaf. With young phenom Patrick Mahomes under center, many followers of the league believe that this could be the year that the Chiefs show the rest of the league that they are more than a regular season team.
The Chiefs have very active fans throughout the country. Unsurprisingly, they are undefeated at home, and their fans’ contributions show up on paper. Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs’ home, is the world’s loudest stadium, a fact that can only be attributed to this particularly devoted fan base. As these first 16 games come to an end, the elite teams of the NFL begin the real season. With a fan base as loud and loyal as theirs, the Chiefs will look to carry their home-field advantage through the post-season and end the year with some hardware.
Though they are no longer undefeated, the Rams certainly look every bit the part of a Super Bowl champion this season. With the recent success of the Golden State Warriors, the idea of the superteam has become a popular topic of discussion across sports. Many feel that it would be difficult to create a true superteam in the NFL, with about 25 starting positions and 53 total roster spots to fill. The Los Angeles Rams, however, are probably about as close to a superteam as one could find in the NFL. The roster is stocked with both talented veterans and young superstars, highlighted by quarterback Jared Goff, running back Todd Gurley, and defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
The team is also complemented by an elite coaching staff, led by young head coach Sean McVay and veteran defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. There have been numerous great teams in Rams history, such as the “Greatest Show on Turf”, which appeared in the Super Bowl in 2000 and 2002, winning the championship in 2000. However, this year’s team may just be the best one yet. This season, the Rams may just have what it takes to bring a Lombardi Trophy home to L.A.
