NBA Season Opener: A Brief Overview

The NBA 2017-2018 season is officially underway as the first games of the season were played over the last two days.

The season started earlier than usual to avoid overexertion of players that have to play too many games back-to-back. In the past, teams have benched players to ensure they don’t hurt themselves. This presents a problem to fans who pay money to watch their favorite player. For instance, the Cavaliers opted to rest Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and LeBron James in a game against the Clippers last season. Fans chanted for their players to make an appearance to no avail and their unhappiness resonated to the league. Adam Silver thinks that extending the season by a week should help prevent injuries throughout the course of the season.

Evolution of the BIG3 Basketball League

The summer is usually a quiet time for sports, but this year was different, with the introduction of the BIG3 Basketball League.  The BIG3 is a new 3-on-3 basketball league featuring former NBA players, including many all-stars.  The organization was founded and promoted by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, and is managed by Roger Mason Jr. and Amy Trask.  One of the best things about the league is the talent from both the coaches and players.  If you are a basketball fan of the 2000s, you’ll get to see many of your favorite players compete, including Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Rashard Lewis, Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Jermaine O’Neal and Bonzi Wells.

FanWide’s NBA Playoffs Round 2 Guide for the Casual Fan (Part 1)

The 2017 NBA Playoffs are in full swing and it’s not too late to get in on the action.

Here are some good and bad points for each team remaining in round 2:

Boston Celtics

Good: The team has been built with patience and intelligence and that’s commendable. Isaiah Thomas exudes confidence in his play style, as though he always knows where the ball is going. Also, prior to the Celtics’ game 2 win, Stevens put the lineup of Isaiah Thomas, Terry Rozier, Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley and Al Horford on the court, making for what was very dominant game play.
