New to a City? Find Fans of the Same Team

You just moved to Seattle from San Francisco for work. On your to-do list is finding a new doctor, new restaurants to order take-out from, new grocery stores, a new cable provider, and trying to understand how the public transportation works. And the worst part: you left your beloved 49ers behind. In San Francisco, you could always count on catching the game with your friends or instantly making new ones since everybody in town was a 49ers fan.

Lucky for you, FanWide is here to help. FanWide is a social networking sports app that allows you to always find other fans of the same team even if you’re not in your team’s home city. Don’t be a stranger in your new home, FanWide strives to help work transplants assimilate to their new city.

NBA Season Opener: A Brief Overview

The NBA 2017-2018 season is officially underway as the first games of the season were played over the last two days.

The season started earlier than usual to avoid overexertion of players that have to play too many games back-to-back. In the past, teams have benched players to ensure they don’t hurt themselves. This presents a problem to fans who pay money to watch their favorite player. For instance, the Cavaliers opted to rest Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and LeBron James in a game against the Clippers last season. Fans chanted for their players to make an appearance to no avail and their unhappiness resonated to the league. Adam Silver thinks that extending the season by a week should help prevent injuries throughout the course of the season.

Evolution of the BIG3 Basketball League

The summer is usually a quiet time for sports, but this year was different, with the introduction of the BIG3 Basketball League.  The BIG3 is a new 3-on-3 basketball league featuring former NBA players, including many all-stars.  The organization was founded and promoted by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, and is managed by Roger Mason Jr. and Amy Trask.  One of the best things about the league is the talent from both the coaches and players.  If you are a basketball fan of the 2000s, you’ll get to see many of your favorite players compete, including Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Rashard Lewis, Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Jermaine O’Neal and Bonzi Wells.

Most Expensive Man Alive: Neymar’s Transfer to PSG

On August 4, Neymar officially made his move from football’s powerhouse, Barcelona, to Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG). PSG paid a transfer fee of over $250 million USD, breaking the record set by Manchester United in 2016, and making Neymar the most expensive football player in the world. His contract is set to go through 2022 where he will earn around $35 million per season (after taxes) and before his major signing bonus.

It is indisputable that Neymar would ruffle the feathers of Barcelona fans with his acceptance of PSG’s offer. Some believe that there is no reason to leave Barcelona as it is at the top of football – there is no better place to go once you reach Barcelona. Some fans even retaliated to Neymar’s “disrespectful” move away from Barcelona by burning his jersey.
